BULLYING

Bullying is when someone continuously acts to intentionally harm or distress another person with less power.

It is further defined as unwanted, purposeful and repeated written, verbal, nonverbal, electronic or physical behavior, by a student or adult, that is severe or pervasive enough to create an intimidating, hostile or offensive educational environment; cause discomfort or humiliation; or unreasonably interfere with the individual’s school performance or participation; and is characterized by an imbalance of power.

At modest standard schools, we are aware of the emotional and psychological effect of bullying to student (victim) and how is can affect the academic performance of the victim, as such, we do not permit bullying among our students and we do what we can to prevent it.

POLICY ON BULLYING

At Modest Standard School we have policies and procedure that is applied to any act of bullying found among our students.

LENIENT APPROACH
  1. We try to separate contact between the parties (bully and victim or victims). Sometimes, we change the seating arrangement and at times we even change the class rooms of the students.
  2. We compel Student (bully) explaining the effect of the act on other student (victim).
SEVERE APPROACH
  1. If we noticed that a student is becoming uncontrollable and engaged repeatedly in the act of bullying other students, we may have to invite the parents/guardians to the school.
  2. If after inviting the parents/guardians and we did not see any change in the student, then we may have to suspend the student/pupil for a period determined by the school authority.
  3. If the above approaches did not work, we may have to finally expel the child from our school.
